Type your best guess into the search box and select the title from the autocomplete suggestions. If you are correct, the game ends and you earn 5 points. If you are wrong, the next clue is revealed, the image becomes a little clearer, and you try again. You have up to five attempts in total. After each wrong guess you can also choose to skip — pressing the skip button costs the same as a wrong guess but lets you see the next clue without committing an answer. After the game ends (win or lose) you will see the full solution, your score, and a shareable results card. Your daily stats are automatically saved in your browser.

When does a new puzzle appear?

If you are in a timezone ahead of UTC — for example Istanbul (UTC+3) — your new puzzle arrives at 03:00 local time. If you are behind UTC — for example New York (UTC-5) — it arrives at 19:00 the previous evening. You can check a timezone converter online to find out exactly when midnight UTC falls in your city. The countdown timer visible on the results screen shows how long until the next puzzle unlocks. Only one puzzle is available per calendar day, so there is no way to get an early start on tomorrow's game.

How does the scoring system work?

Your score for each puzzle is determined by how many clues you needed before guessing correctly. Solving on the first clue earns 5 points — the maximum. Each subsequent clue costs one point: 4 for a second-clue solve, 3 for the third, 2 for the fourth, and 1 point if you only get it right on the final fifth clue. If you exhaust all five clues without a correct guess, the game ends with 0 points for that day. Your total score and win streak are tracked across all the days you play. The best strategy is to think broadly at first — genres, eras, or production styles can eliminate large groups of films before you even read all the clues. Over time your personal statistics will show your average score and longest streak.

There is no penalty beyond losing access to a higher point score, so do not be afraid to guess early — a lucky first-clue guess is worth 5 points, whereas waiting for a safer answer will cap your score at a lower value. The game is designed to reward confident early guesses.

Pressing it advances you to the next clue and reveals the next stage of the image, exactly as a wrong guess would — meaning it counts as one of your five attempts and reduces your potential maximum score by one point. Skipping can be a useful tactic if you are certain a clue is not helpful for you (for example, a clue about a specific film festival you are not familiar with) and you want to move on to a clue that might click faster. You cannot undo a skip once pressed. The skip button is labelled clearly and is always available as long as you have remaining attempts.
